How our Duty Doctor System Works

docsteth1Each doctor is rostered to undertake a duty (on call) day. The duty doctor deals with the emergency face to face consultations and telephone consultations. They are also required to undertake visits. This system allows patients to be seen / triaged by a doctor where there is a genuine medical need regardless of who they are registered with.

In response to suggestions and previous surveys the practice have put in place the following:-

  • Installed 2 further incoming telephone lines to allow more calls to come through at any one time.
  • Installed 2 dedicated outgoing lines to allow GP's and staff to dial out without blocking incoming lines.
  • Made Monday appointments book on the day only, to cope with demand for appointments and to allow patients who may have been unwell at the weekend access to their own GP.
  • Advertise Saturday surgeries more effectively.

We are continually looking at how we can improve our service to you and welcome comments and suggestions from our patients.
